Wookie Cookies for Your Favorite Valentine

When it comes to finding the meaning of love on Valentine’s Day, Chewbacca said it best, “RRWWWGG.” Translated that could mean: “Do you want some fresh baked cookies?” or “I’m looking for passage to the Alderaan system.” Who knows? Let’s pretend it’s the former. Either way, love and friendship go hand in and hand, and nothing says “I love you” more than cookies.

These buttery brown sugar cookies are frosted and covered in faux furry sprinkles to make them resemble everyone’s favorite walking carpet. Look a little closer, the bandolier is made up of tiny white heart sprinkles. Love it? I know.

Make these heart-shaped Star Wars Chewie cookies for your little Valentine to make sure they wouldn’t rather kiss a Wookie!

Wookie Cookies (makes 12 large cookies)

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

pinch of salt

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

1-1/2 cups brown sugar

1 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla

buttercream frosting

brown sprinkles

chocolate icing

tiny white heart sprinkles

Directions:

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.

Add the egg and vanilla, then slowly add in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together. The dough will form quickly, and when it starts to pull away from the bowl, it’s ready.

Split the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with a nonstick baking mat.

Roll out the dough to about 3/16 inch thick. Use a 5” cutter to cut out hearts. Transfer onto the prepped baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

Once cooled, frost with buttercream and add the sprinkles.

Using a #12 tip, pipe a stripe of chocolate icing diagonally across the heart.

Add tiny white heart sprinkles along both edges of the chocolate stripe. Serve.
