Folks around the world are celebrating 10 years of the Twitter hashtag. You may not know this, but Twitter didn’t come up with the hashtag. That credit goes to early Twitter user, Chris Messina. He writes about his gift to the Internet in a Medium post.
Fast forward since that fateful day in 2007, and the hashtag has truly revolutionized the Internet—spurring social movements, joining fandoms together, and more.
