Star Wars Celebration kicked off this morning in Orlando, Florida, though this wasn’t your average fan event. 2017 happens to be the 40th anniversary of Star Wars first hitting theaters, and so Disney and Lucasfilm gave fans a very special treat by starting things out with a real trip down memory lane. Warwick Davis first brought out George Lucas to the stage, and throughout the course of the next hour or so, they were joined by everyone from Hayden Christensen to Mark Hamill to Samuel L. Jackson (via video) to Harrison Ford.
Of course one incredibly important part of Star Wars history was sadly unable to join everyone on stage. Carrie Fisher was certainly not forgotten, though. Not only did George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, and Billie Lourd (Fisher’s daughter) all speak about the dearly departed, but Lucasfilm put together this really lovely tribute to everyone’s favorite princess/rebel.
Give it a watch.
And yes, that is footage of Fisher on the set of Star Wars: The Last Jedi with director Rian Johnson.
