Although analysts forecast tens of billions of IoT devices will be deployed around the world, security concerns and privacy risks are among the top 3 barriers to buying an IoT device. The Asset Manager protects the provisioning and storage of assets into the device, as well as the use of these assets by Trusted Applications to securely connect, authenticate and use remote services running in the Cloud. All data exchanged between devices, and the services in the Cloud, is therefore fully protected either in transit, at rest, or in use by the Trusted Application running inside the TEE.
The solution will be demonstrated on PSoC® 6 microcontrollers (MCUs) from Cypress Semiconductor Corp. PSoC 6 MCUs achieve the highest level of protection defined by the Platform Security Architecture (PSA) from Arm® through the use of configurable memory and peripheral protection units. The Asset Manager solution will be demonstrated at Embedded World 2018, in Nuremberg, from February 27th to March 1st 2018, running in the PSoC 6 Secure MCU hardware-based TEE with secure boot capability and integrated secure data storage. The demonstration will show (1) how a device securely exchanges maintenance data with its original manufacturer, and (2) the ordering and replenishment of goods and/or consumables by the device, after it has securely enrolled with a remote service provider.
“TrustAZUR is a strong partner for Cypress, focused on developing secure solutions with PSoC 6 MCUs. We are excited to see TrustAZUR supply the market its Asset Manager solution that leverages the strong hardware capabilities of PSoC 6, and secures the communication between devices using a PSoC 6 MCU and remote services in the Cloud,” said Jack Ogawa, Senior Director, Embedded Security, at Cypress. “We look forward to continue working with TrustAZUR to bring more Trusted Applications for PSoC 6 MCUs to support Automotive, Consumer and Industrial IoT use cases.”
“Our TAZAM Asset Manager illustrates our ability to deliver best-in-class security products for IoT and Mobile. Our goal is to help accelerate the deployment and use of embedded security technologies to protect the communication, usage and exchange of information with cloud services,” said Dr. Dimitrios Karayiannis, President and CEO of TrustAZUR. “Cypress’ PSoC 6 is for us an ideal platform that implements critical security functions for connected devices in hardware, with the right balance of performance and power for the IoT. The PSoC 6 MCU with integrated TEE allows customers to develop and run multiple Trusted Applications, based on a variety of use cases, in an easy manner, to protect their products and the users from attacks. TrustAZUR is ready to support Cypress’ customers in developing and integrating Trusted Applications for their own use cases, with the assistance of its TAZAM Asset Manager.”
