‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ (August 19)

No one makes animated movies as unique and as beautiful as Laika, the stop-motion animation studio behind ‘Coraline,’ ‘ParaNorman’ and ‘The Boxtrolls.’ The studio’s latest film is a fantasy-adventure set in ancient Japan that follows a young man who must track down his father’s legendary samurai armor after a spirit threatens his existence. The star-studded cast includes Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes and George Takei, but the animation is the real star here.
