Ryan Reynolds is currently right smack in the middle of filming one of next year’s most anticipated superhero sequels in Deadpool 2, but he took a brief break from the action to sit down with Fandango to chat about The Hitman’s Bodyguard, in theaters August 18. Of course talk eventually shifted toward the R-rated follow-up, which is already making some noise this week with the release of the first image of the character Domino, played by Zazie Beetz.
When Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak asked Reynolds about costar Josh Brolin’s trash talking on Instagram (ie: the hashtag #ryanreynoldsismybitch), the Deadpool star acknowledged that Brolin has a point, and even this week he has spent much of it being pummeled by Brolin’s character, Cable.
Quietly, the “Team” is killing it. It takes a small village: @justindlovato at @iambuilt, Jonathon Phillips @hbmaxmuscle, @goldsgym and some discipline. Just saw @davebautista at the gym and he said: “What the f*ck happened to you?!” Haha. Best compliment ever. Totally clean: no sugar, no breads, no pastas, no drugs, none of it. Fish, rice, eggs, veggies, water, one @bulletproof or @cavemancoffeeco in the morning. I’m almost 50. It’s a different time: our access along with some big picture discipline results in always surprising milestones. Get on the train. #wedontfuckaround. #itaintthathard #startslowandlight @weprevail #ryanreynoldsismybitch

“I think it’s going to be very interesting,” Reynolds said. “I’ve spent this last week on the business end of many Josh Brolin punches. Both verbal and physical and literal and it’s going to be pretty fantastic. He’s going to be epic. He’s going to be an epic Cable.”
Keep your eyes peeled for more from Deadpool 2 in the coming days and weeks. The sequel officially lands in theaters on June 1, 2018.
