Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Hellboy: We just heard that Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, the working title for a reboot of the movie series (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, above), is in the works with David Harbour and Neil Marshall touted as new star and director, respectively. Andrew Cosby cowrote the new script with Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, who says: “This is a darker, more gruesome version. … [Marshall] said from the very beginning that he wanted to walk a razor’s edge between horror and comic book movie, which was music to my ears.” [Silver Screen Beat]

The Hateful Eight

Maze Runner: The Death Cure: Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, above) will costar in Maze Runner: The Death Cure. His character is described as “part revolutionary, part anarchist and a voice for the voiceless people.” Wes Ball will direct the third installment of the series, which was delayed after star Dylan O’Brien suffered an injury. Greg Berlanti

Black Lightning: A television series based on DC’s comic book hero Black Lightning has received a green light. It will air on the CW network starting in the fall; producer Greg Berlanti (above) also shepherds four other DC superhero shows (Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow). Black Lightning will revolve around the titular superhero, who is pulled from retirement back into crime fighting to protect his two daughters. []

The Hitman’s Bodyguard Trailer: The working relationship between executive protective agent Ryan Reynolds and his client, hit man Samuel L. Jackson, gets off to a rocky start in a new trailer for The Hitman’s Bodyguard. The action-comedy will open in theaters on August 18. [Movieclips]
