The Bride of Frankenstein: Bill Condon (Beauty and the Beast) is in early talks to direct The Bride of Frankenstein, part of Universal’s rebooted classic monster series. Condon won an Academy Award for Gods and Monsters, which dramatized the last days of James Whale, director of the original Bride (above). David Koepp (Jurassic Park) wrote the script for the new version. [Deadline]

Central Intelligence

Night School: Kevin Hart (Central Intelligence, above with Dwayne Johnson) will star in and produce the comedy Night School, based on a script that he cowrote. Tim Story (Ride Along) is in negotiations to direct. The story revolves around misfits who are “forced to attend adult classes to prepare for the GED exam.” [Variety]

Shameik Moore

Animated Spider-Man: Shameik Moore (above), known for Dope and TV’s The Get Down, will voice Miles Morales, aka Marvel’s Spider-Man, in an upcoming animated movie. Liev Schreiber will voice the villain, whose identity has not yet been revealed. Phil Lord (The Lego Movie) wrote the script and will produce alongside Christopher Miller, his usual creative partner. Beatriz at Dinner

Beatriz at Dinner Trailer: Salma Hayek stars as a holistic medical practitioner who is invited to attend a wealthy client’s dinner after her car breaks down in Beatriz at Dinner. As the first trailer reveals, things become increasingly tense as the evening progresses. John Lithgow, Chloe Sevigny and Connie Britton also star; the movie will open in theaters on June 9.
