Movie News: Where Obi-Wan Spin-off Movie May Be Set

Star Wars: A New Hope

Obi-Wan Spin-off Movie: Last week we heard that Stephen Daldry was in early talks to direct a Star Wars spin-off movie revolving around Obi-Wan Kenobi, the character previously played by Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness. Now a new report claims that the working title is Joshua Tree, a desert plant that may reference the desert planet Tatooine, where the character was first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope (above). It may also suggest that Tatooine will again serve as an important location for the action. [Omega Underground]

The Equalizer 2: Ashton Sanders (Moonlight, above) will star in The Equalizer 2. It’s described as a lead role; Denzel Washington will reprise his character, Robert McCall, who will serve as a father figure to Sanders’ character. Melissa Leo, Bill Pullman and Pedro Pascal will costar; Antoine Fuqua will once again direct. The sequel is set for release on September 14, 2018. [Deadline]
