American Sniper

Matt Helm: Tom Shepherd (the upcoming The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle) has been hired to write Matt Helm, starring Bradley Cooper (American Sniper, above). The titular character, a ruthless government agent, was created by novelist Donald Hamilton and depicted in a series of popular, dark-edged novels. Four comic thrillers starring Dean Martin, starting with The Silencers, were inspired by the series but only loosely related to the books and their tone. A new contemporary adaptation has been in development for more than a decade. [Deadline]

Love, Simon

Booster Gold: In May 2016, producer Greg Berlanti confirmed that a Booster Gold movie, based on the DC comic book character, was in development, with Zack Stentz writing the script and Berlanti himself hoping to direct. With Berlanti’s Love, Simon (above) opening in theaters on Friday, what about Booster Gold? “It’s still in development with DC,” Berlanti said. “They’re trying to figure out both the distance that we still have to travel and how we want to execute it.” [The Wrap]

Sorry to Bother You Trailer: Lakeith Stanfield (above) stars in the startling first trailer for Sorry to Bother You, which introduces the fantastical tale of a telemarketer (Stanfield) who discovers the secret to personal success.
