Movie News: Michael Bay’s ‘Dora the Explorer’ on Its Way

Dora the Explorer: Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce a big-screen, live-action version of Dora the Explorer. Based on the long-running, animated television series for children, the movie will follow Dora as a teenage girl who moves to San Diego. Nicholas Stoller (Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, The Muppets) will work on the script. [THR]

Drew Goddard

Nevermoor: Academy Award-nominated writer Drew Goddard (above), whose credits include The Martian, Cloverfield and The Cabin in the Woods, has been tapped to write the screenplay for Nevermoor. Goddard will also produce the project, which is based on Jessica Townsend’s fantasy book for children about a young girl who is blamed for all local misfortune and seeks refuge in a magical city called Nevermoor. Girls Trip

Limited Partners: Tiffany Haddish, who broke out in a comic performance in this summer’s Girls Trip (above), will star in Limited Partners. Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly will write the screenplay for the movie, which is described as a “female-driven comedy vehicle.” Haddish is also known for roles in Keanu and TV’s The Carmichael Show. The Commuter Trailer: Liam Neeson stars in The Commuter as a businessman whose daily trip to work aboard a train becomes tangled in intrigue and danger.
