Lady and the Tramp: Veteran animator Charlie Bean (The Lego Ninjago Movie) will direct a new version of Disney’s 1955 animated classic Lady and the Tramp (above). The film will mix live-action and CGI characters, and is expected to focus once again on the romantic adventures of two dogs. It’s also expected to debut on Disney’s new streaming service, which will launch sometime next year. Indie filmmaker Andrew Bujalski (Computer Chess, Support the Girls) wrote the screenplay. [THR]

Black Panther

The Liberators: Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, above) will produce The Liberators. The action drama is set during World War II and revolves around the true story of an African-American military unit whose remarkable heroism “led to the desegregation of the armed forces.” Madison Turner wrote the script. Thor: Ragnarok

The True American: Mark Ruffalo (Thor: Ragnarok, above) and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) are in early talks to star in The True American. It’s based on a nonfiction book by Anand Giridharadas about a Muslim immigrant in Texas who survived a deadly hate crime and then advocated for mercy on behalf of his attacker. Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Sicario: Day of the Soldado Trailer: A new trailer for the sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado features even more action and tension, as well as a new, expanded title. Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from the original, acclaimed thriller as rogue agents operating in Mexico. The film will open in theaters on June 29. [Movieclips]
