Movie News: Daniel Dae Kim Touted for ‘Hellboy’


Hellboy: Daniel Dae Kim (TV’s Hawaii Five-O; Allegiant, above) is in negotiations to join Hellboy. If things work out, he’ll portray Major Ben Daimio, a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense alongside Hellboy. Ed Skrein was previously cast as the Asian-American character before stepping down due to concerns about ‘whitewashing’ being raised. [THR]

Abacus: Small Enough to Jail: Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6, above) will develop a narrative feature based on Steve James’ documentary Abacus: Small Enough to Jail. It’s based on a true story about a bank run by a Chinese immigrant family that became the only U.S. financial institution to face criminal charges after the 2008 economic crisis. Only the Brave Video: Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jeff Bridges and director Joseph Kosinski are featured in a new Only the Brave video.
