Movie News: Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges Touted for ‘Bad Times’


Bad Times at the El Royale: Chris Hemsworth (Ghostbusters, above) and Jeff Bridges are in talks to star in Bad Times at the El Royale. If things work out, Hemsworth will reteam with Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), who wrote the original screenplay and will direct. The thriller is set in California during the 1960s, following a group of shady characters who come into conflict at a run-down hotel. [THR]

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Justice League: We’ve been hearing rumblings about Justice League reshoots this summer, mostly handled by Joss Whedon, who took over from director Zack Snyder. The latest rumor is that the villainous Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg, above in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) has been cut, alongside fellow villain Darkseid, who was penciled in for a cameo. The House

The 100 Year-Old Man: Will Ferrell (The House, above) will star in The 100 Year-Old Man. It’s based on Jonas Jonasson’s novel The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared, which was first adapted for the screen in 2013; that version was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Jason George (Narcos) will write the screenplay; the comedy recounts the life experiences of an elderly man who goes on the run. [Variety]

Beach Rats

Beach Rats Clip: In a new clip from Beach Rats, a young man and a young woman get to know each other late at night. The drama follows an aimless teenager who seeks to escape his home life and figure out questions of self-identity; it opens in select theaters on Friday. [Movieclips]
