The Make-A-Wish Foundation does a lot of good in this world, but their work doesn’t often go down in pop culture history. In the past we’ve seen a boy become a mini Batman for a day, and there’s a documentary and upcoming dramatic movie about him that cements his wish to be famous. We’ve also seen Ron Perlman suit up as Hellboy one last time at a kid’s request.
Now another sick child’s interest in superheroes has led to something downright iconic.
For all of us watching the teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the part where Thor sees Hulk immediately became a classic moment, not just for the MCU but for movies in general. “Yes!” Thor (Chris Hemsworth) shouts upon seeing his fellow Avenger. “We know each other. He’s a friend from work.” The line is going to be quoted for a long time as a famous piece of dialogue.
As it turns out, the gist of that line came from a special guest visiting the production. “We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid, on set that day,” Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly at Comic-Con. “He goes, ‘You know, you should say, ‘He’s a friend from work!'”
Neither the name of the boy nor any details about him and his visit have been revealed, but maybe he deserves a co-writer credit on the movie. Sure, it’s just one line, but it’s a significant one to the marketing of Thor: Ragnarok and likely the most memorable one from the whole thing. A lot of people wish they could write for the movies, so it turns out this kid was granted more than his original desire.
Watch the teaser again to hear the unidentified hero’s line once more:
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
