The WBE Star Award is the nation’s premier recognition for excellence among women-owned businesses, honoring 14 women from across the country who are leaders in their local business communities and respective fields.
The 2018 WBE Stars are being honored during the “2018 WBENC Summit & Salute,” a gathering of more than 1,500 entrepreneurs and business leaders taking place March 20 – 22, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.
“We are very proud of the 2018 WBE Stars,” says Pamela Prince-Eason, President and CEO of WBENC. “They are all outstanding leaders who have been instrumental in driving innovation and sustainable economic growth.”
Akorbi, which was co-founded by Mirza, is one of the most diversified and fastest-growing language service providers offering full service language solutions including video technology, staffing, multilingual call center solutions, translation, localization, interpreting and learning services enabling clients across the globe to communicate with customers in their preferred languages.
“I am deeply grateful and honored to receive such an esteemed recognition from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council among such an accomplished group of women business and community leaders from around the country who join me in receiving this award,” said Claudia Mirza. “I’ve always been passionate about advocating for and helping other women who are, or aspire to be business leaders because I understand first-hand the challenges we face.”
Mirza will be recognized for her business acumen, her inspiration to other women, and her active role at the helm of Akorbi. She was selected for this national honor by Debbie Hurst, President of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS). Debbie is one of WBENC’s 14 RPOs that process WBENC’s world-class certification of WBEs, in addition to providing skills-building educational programs and business development opportunities in their respective regions.
